Summer's End - Black & Pink Rose Tablescape

Kathe With An E - Black & Pink Rose Tablescape
With the kids back in school, Labor Day and then the football season starting next week, it seems to me that Summer has ended. Oh we will get a few more hot days but the nights will cool down so that we can sleep with the windows open. With all of this in mind, I decided to put together a table to honor Summer's end.

I had actually purchased these plates several years ago at Hobby Lobby. They were marked $9.99 each but on clearance, I only paid $1.99 for them.

Then, when my friend Linda was visiting a few weeks ago, we stopped into World Market and I found these napkins in the clearance section.

Perfect, yes?

Pale pink wine and water stems from Goodwill have been seen on some of my tables before.

Dollar Tree candlesticks and thrifted vase with the perfect color of flowers make up the centerpiece.

Several Ikea rose votives help to light up the otherwise dark table.

My silverplated Rogers flatware really pops off the black tablecloth.

  8. Pink and black are beautiful together. Your table is so pretty set with your bargain plates from the Hobby Lobby and the rose napkins from the World Market. Don't you just love bargain shopping? I found a set of the pretty pale pink water goblets like yours at our Goodwill not to long ago. Now I have a better idea of how to use from seeing your lovely table. Have a great holiday weekend..... 9. Seeing your beautiful table scape has convinced me of color combo never thought I'd enjoy or appreciate. It looks very pretty. Are those plates by Mary Inglebreit? Looks like her style flowers. So pretty with your napkins and the goblets and silver ware, very pretty table.
I have never had fancy or even close to it silver ware or dishes (no china). With 4 kids (2 of which boys 16 months apart) I was lucky to keep any utensils. Used to have to check the trash to make sure nobody threw things in it. They'd clean their plates off and utensils would go with it, lol. But they were trying to be good boys.
It's cooler here for now but it will heat up again for few weeks then bam, it'll be Fall. Does it to us every year, plays with us. Doesn't pay to get out the Fall clothes too soon. I start making Fall decorations just cause I enjoy it but don't put any up til late Sept. early Oct. It might kill me but I'll just have to wait. Fall is longer season than any I think?. Farmer's Almanac says we'll have a severe winter, really cold temps. Whatever. If we have the inversions in valley that stick around for weeks we will have cold temps for longer than usual. Last 2 winters we've had long staying inversions that kept temps down during day even, let alone at night. It is what it is, nothing we can do about it, just dress accordingly. It's never been cold enuf here for me to wear my heavy parka that I wore in MT for weeks.
    Have great holiday weekend

  19. You always make things look so prety, Kathe. My mom had a knack for that also, and it greatly influenced me so that I feel like much of what makes a great meal is how it looks on the table. Lovely table, Kathe.
