I Found "It"!

Remember this post from a week or so ago?
I was on a mission to find the
perfect "thing" for a vignette
I had in my head for
the top of the china hutch
in the kitchen eating area.

Welllll....luck was on my side
when I was shopping at
Hobby Lobby this past weekend.

They were having one of their
in-between seasons
66% off sales.
And I found "IT"!

This sweet vintage looking
plaque with chicken wire
only set me back
a little over $5.00!
It is the perfect piece!
It is exactly what I had imagined there.
Here is a view of the top of
the hutch.
The right side
And the left side.

The printers drawer is one of my favorite Goodwill finds from last summer!
It was, of course, 50% off that day
so I got it for $7.99.
More than I have ever paid for anything,
other than furniture,
at a thrift store but,
I had to have it, right?

The aluminum stock pot
was actually in the "to be donated" pile
but has found a new life without ever leaving our
I would like to find an enameled stock pot at some point
but for now, the shiny one is okay.

Another Goodwill find is
the sweet, off white, pitcher
with the handpainted flowers.
It used to sit on top of the fridge
but I like that I can see it better in
its new home.

Since I was going with a homey theme
I changed up the
decor in the main part of the hutch too.
You may have seen the salad plates
when I used them on this tablescape.
I started with some silver plate and chrome chargers in the back,
then my Johnson Bros. white dishes
and the farm fresh plates
layered over some bandanas that were a suggestion from Mr. B.
The next shelf holds just a
small sampling
of my glassware collection.
And finally Mr. Rooster
alone on the bottom shelf.

I am so pleased with how
the cabinet looks.
It feels so warm and cozy
which is the perfect way to feel
this time of year.

Of course, Valentine's Day is not
to far away
so, I will be changing this all out again before then!
Oh poor Mr. B!
He just can't understand why I can't just
leave things be.
My answer?
Where's the fun in that???

  1. Too bad we can't go shopping together ... I found a Welcome sign, Sheep with 2 lambs and chicken wire back at Tractor Supply.

  2. perfect!! and 5$ that is a find!!!

  3. I know that's right! What fun is it for things to stay the same??!?! :-) I'm so happy you found the perfect "IT" for the space!!! Isn't that just the most wonderful feeling? Looks fantastic!

  4. What a perfect find.. Love your look. xo marlis

  5. You're right...that sign is the perfect touch for your vignette. Love it!

  6. All the pretties in your hutch look wonderful together. I love the layered look you did with your plates. I may have to steal, no borrow, that sometime :) Don't you just love a good find or a good sale when decorating. For me, I don't stress over that purchase like I do if something is spendy.

  7. I like your printers drawer and the water pitcher in front of it. I love shopping at thrift stores, too.

  8. Yay! I love finding a new way to look at what I already have too.

So glad that you decided to join Pin'Inspiration Thursday this week :-)

  9. Love it! I am so happy when I find just the right thing at a bargain price! So fun to catch the sales at Hobby Lobby - they always have something wonderful! Love your new look! Thank you for sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,

  10. I never seem to find things like everyone else at these stores. You went at a good time.

  11. It looks great! I really like that printer's tray, awesome find!!

  12. You have a wonderful vignette on the top of your hutch now. Your rooster sign gives just the right touch, and your display inside your hutch is warm and interesting.

  13. Cute, I love just thinking about the husband wondering how long things will stay 'this way.' Yes, we could 'leave well enough alone' but why? It's so fun to change things up.

  14. What a pretty vignette. It certainly is a homey feeling hutch.

  15. first time visiting. Feel free to link on my party blog- http://www.atozebracelebrations.blogspot.com/2012/01/totally-cute-crafts-tuesday.html

  16. Don't you love it when things come together so perfectly? I'm impressed your husband contributed the bandanna idea! The pitcher on top looks like one my mother has, only her roses are pink. Love it!

  17. Great vihnette-I love the bandanas in the hutch too.

  18. So cute. Good work! I especially love the tomato/corn/blueberry plates. They are so cheery!

  19. It's so fun when we find "it". Wish I had a Hobby Lobby close by.
